newsweek: And in honor of today’s ode to our favorite 80s novels, remember… BOOK FAIRS?! Holy shit, we haven’t thought about these in ages. Leave it to the lovely lady behind I’m Remembering to remind us. Also: Urlesque. You are awesome. Woooohoo book fairs were always the highlight of my year in elementary school! I was really into buying the erasers, definitely. My memories of the book fair are way more vivid than some other (probably more important) childhood events.

[orange / bemlegaus.] !! In addition to this being cool, these are the kinds of shoes I must get before I leave Europe. The search for the perfect (and kinda cheap) oxfords/derbys/whatever is on (actually has been for weeks)! My shoe lust is not doing well here. Luckily whenever I think of how much I have left in my bank account it helps to restrain me, but goddamn I wish I could throw out all my shoes so I would have to buy all new ones here. Everyone’s shoes are perfect and they are ridiculous colors and made of suede and have t-straps and high heels. Or they are oxfords.

I finally made flight reservations for the end of spring break. EDINBURGH. Yeah. It is breaking my heart a little that I won’t go to Morocco but I feel a little uneasy about going there at this particular moment. And YES I was going to go somewhere a little more interesting (I think I tried to convince myself of Istanbul, Budapest, somewhere in Croatia, etc.) or travel within France a little more, but I’m going to Edinburgh because I want to and I don’t feel bad about it so don’t try to make me feel guilty with any of your life-changing experiences in little-known cities or Third World countries where they speak languages I didn’t even know existed. I REFUSE TO APOLOGIZE FOR TRAVELING TO SCOTLAND.

I’m beginning to think this was more about my own self-judgment than anything else. hm.

P.S. I still want to go to other places that are cool and I have nothing against little-known cities or Third World countries, but full disclosure: flights to Edinburgh were cheap.

joelzimmer: Pink Buds So much spring in the air… Highline! Can’t wait to go this spring/summer. I haven’t been yet when it was all green and pretty and it must be even better. Love seeing those buds, too. I noticed some forsythias coming out in full bloom earlier this week, and it made me SO excited for spring here! Tonight I was walking around near my apartment and it was dark but still fairly warm, and all the good smells and warmth coming out of the restaurants nearby was so beautiful and perfect and despite whatever is going on today or the next day or whenever, I am never ever unhappy that I am here, in Paris.
